Are you looking for a reading process that works? Making Great Readers is an interactive workshop that breaks away from the traditional reading techniques. Participants will learn an explicit, developmentally ready, kinesthetic method for sound letter connection using Sound Cards. In addition, learning how to help students See the Sound in Text, use Model Writing as a teacher tool and implementing Independent Writing Practice will be included in the process. The workshop will introduce 35 signals that connect 32 of the phonemes to letters shapes plus the sounds of c, x and wh to be used on the first day of kindergarten. Participants will be provided with a kinesthetic and visual approach that gives decoding skills to the young learner. The session is fast-paced as participants engage in learning the signals for phonemes and letter-shapes. Supplemental strategies for hand-eye coordination, with relation to reading and writing skills, will be modeled and practiced.
